LEGO RCX Number - 5 anos depois do início da investigação

Há 5 anos atrás iniciei aqui uma investigação sobre o número do RCX e a sua relação com as versões 1.0, 1.5 ou 2.0.Procurava saber se havia alguma relação direta entre o número doa caixa do RCX e a sua versão.Depois de ter coletado mais de 2000 números de RCX e suas versões (agradeço imenso a quem tem colaborado, nomeadamente ao site de John Holbrook, o qual possui um link para este inquérito) , concluo, de momento o seguinte:

a) Os números são sequênciais relativos à produção dos RCX, nunca há RCX de diversas versões com números iguais (a não ser nos livros da LEGO Robotics Inventions System, mas penso resultarem de montagens digitais para atualização dos livros face à edição de uma nova versão);

b) Parece existirem produções, num certo momento, simultaneas de RCX 1.0, 1.5 (menos exemplares) e RCX 2.0; 

c) Nas respostas dadas 50% dos números são de RCX 1.0 (este RCX foi sistematica, e exclusivamente vendido para os sets das escolas depois do RIS 1.0), 15% de RCX 1.5 e 35% de RCX 2.0;

d) Quando foi ultrapassado o número 999999, os RCX saíram sem número, e eram todos versão 1.0;

e) O estilo dos números difere ao longo dos tempos, sendo uns, inicialmente muito finos, e quase no fim da produção, números marcados em tonalidade mais escura, tendo até, e por lapso de fabrico, penso, alguns foram marcados de modo invertido (entre os números 824363 e 828691 - pelo menos, todos RCX 2.0);

Paralelamente a esta pesquisa, apercebi-me que mesmo possuindo 3 versões exteriores (RCX 1.0, 1.5 e 2.0), no interior, as placas são diferentes mesmo mantendo no exterior a mesma versão (ver caso do RCX 2.0 - onde foi identificada placas diferentes nesta mesma versão). Vou continuar a investigação por mais algum tempo... fica aqui o espaço original para colocaraem as vossas respostas.

5 years ago I started an investigation here about the RCX number and its relationship with versions 1.0, 1.5 or 2.0. I was looking to find out if there was any direct relationship between the RCX box number and its version.

After having collected more than 2000 RCX numbers and their versions (I am very grateful to those who have collaborated, namely John Holbrook's website, which has a link to this survey), I conclude, for the moment, the following: 

a) The numbers are sequential relative to the production of RCX, there are never RCXs of different versions with the same numbers (except in the LEGO Robotics Inventions System books, but I think they result from digital assemblies to update the books in light of the publication of a new version);

b) There appears to be, at a certain point, simultaneous production of RCX 1.0, 1.5 (fewer units) and RCX 2.0;

c) In the answers given, 50% of the numbers are RCX 1.0 (this RCX was systematically and exclusively sold for school sets after RIS 1.0), 15% RCX 1.5 and 35% RCX 2.0;

d) When the number 999999 was exceeded, the RCXs came out without a number, and were all version 1.0;

e) The style of the numbers has changed over time, with some initially being very thin, and towards the end of production, numbers marked in a darker tone, and even, due to a manufacturing error, I think, some were marked inverted (between numbers 824363 and 828691 - at least, all RCX 2.0);

Parallel to this research, I noticed that even though there are 3 external versions (RCX 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0), inside, the plates are different even though the same version is maintained on the outside (see the case of RCX 2.0 - where different plates were identified in this same version). I will continue the investigation for a while longer... here is the original space to post your answers.

1985-2025 - 40 anos de manuais educativos LEGO®

 Em 1985 a LEGO®, editava os primeiros manuais educativos estruturados, o 1035 e o 1036, para os conjuntos 1030,1032 e 1034.

Porquê dar importância a este facto?

A LEGO® através da sua Educational Products Department (futura LEGO® Dacta, e mais tarde LEGO® Education), a qual foi criada em 1980 para, de uma forma estruturada, dar apoio aos professores que por sua iniciativa usavam educativa e intencionalmente, desde de meados dos anos sessenta peças de LEGO® nas suas aulas, em 1985 apresenta pela primeira vez manuais muito bem estruturados para apoio aos docentes.

É certo que a caixa 1030, quando foi lançada, já possuía um manual de orientação. Mas estes livros, muito bem ilustrados, apresentam uma qualidade pedagógica que se deve realçar, pois não só apresentam as caixas, as suas  atividades e a sua interligação com o curriculum escolar, como ainda apresentam propostas de soluções, e até propostas de projetos finais abertos. E no caso do 1036 especificações técnicas sobre os componentes eletricos. Para não falar de um cartaz com o resumo das peças contidas em cada caixa seja ela a 1030, 1032 ou 1034.

Como professor, sempre olhei para os manuais educativos da LEGO® com uma curiosidade muito grande. E foi com muita satisfação que os seus manuais de STEAM, mesmo antes da expressão STEAM existir (como diz a própria LEGO®), foram sempre uma grande fonte de inspiração para as minhas aulas e para os meus alunos.

In 1985, LEGO® published the first structured educational manuals, 1035 and 1036, for sets 1030, 1032 and 1034. Why give importance to this fact?

LEGO®, through its Educational Products Department (future LEGO® Dacta, and later LEGO® Education), which was created in 1980 to provide structured support to teachers who, on their own initiative, had been using LEGO® pieces in their classes for educational purposes since the mid-sixties, presented for the first time in 1985 very well-structured manuals to support teachers.

It is true that box 1030, when launched, already had an orientation manual. But these books, very well illustrated, present a pedagogical quality that should be highlighted, as they not only present the boxes, their activities and their interconnection with the school curriculum, but also present proposed solutions, and even proposals for open final projects. And in the case of 1036 technical specifications on electrical components. Not to mention a poster with a summary of the pieces contained in each box, whether it be 1030, 1032 or 1034. As a teacher, I have always looked at LEGO® educational manuals with great curiosity. And it was with great satisfaction that your STEAM manuals, even before the expression STEAM existed (as LEGO® itself says), were always a great source of inspiration for my classes and for my students.
